Juvenile Trial Watch – Randwick

Tara Madgwick - Friday October 6

Trial action at Randwick on Friday morning featured Everest contender Private Eye having his final tune up for the big one, problem child Hilal taking another step forward and the lone two year-old heat was won by a $1.1million son of Snitzel.

Second in the Everest last year to Giga Kick, the Joe Pride trained Private Eye looked to be in perfect order with this late surging second under a hold from Nash Rawiller and there is every reason to be confident of another great run next Saturday.

Blue-blood Fastnet Rock stallion Hilal is attempting to reignite his racing career with new trainers Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott. The blueblood Emirates Park homebred was having his second trial this prep and looked happy in leading all the way for Adam Hyeronimus to win well and connections will be hoping he maintains this positive frame of mind come race day.

The only juvenile heat of the session went to the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott stable with Snitzel colt Manos overpowering his stablemate Shangri La Express to win the 740m scamper by a neck.

A $1.1million Inglis Easter purchase from the Arrowfield Stud draft for China Horse Club / Newgate / Go Bloodstock / Trilogy, Manos is from Champion South African Sprinter and five time Group I winner Carry on Alice (Safr).

Manos was a $1.1million Inglis Easter yearling.
