Body Bob and Critique Strike for Written Tycoon at Randwick

Mark Smith - Wednesday October 4

Written Tycoon rounded out the Randwick meeting on Wednesday with two winners going somewhere.

The Pat Murphy-trained Body Bob made it four wins on the bounce when staving off the challenge of the 3-year-old Grunt gedling Rhythm Of Love by a short-head as the pair left the Epaulette gelding four and a half lengths in arrears.

While Body Bob advances his record to five wins, a second, and two thirds from 11 starts, Rhythm Of Love has a lone win and four seconds from six starts.

A $250,000 purchase for Busuttin Racing from the Baramul Stud draft at the 2021 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

The son of Written Tycoon made seven starts for Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young before transferring to Pat Murphy, for whom he has won all four starts.

Body Bob is the second winner from four to race for the crack racemare Fifth Avenue Lady (Enciosta De Lago), whose six wins included the VRC Matron Stakes.

A half-sister to Group I MRC Oakleigh Plate winner Mrs Onassis and Group III winners Aussies Love Sport and Miss Judgement, Fifth Avenue Lady has a 2-year-old filly by Written Tycoon, a yearling filly by Snitzel and was covered by Snitzel last spring.

The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained Critique advanced his record to two wins from five starts when downing the I Am Invincible 4-year-old gelding Vinnie's Spirit by one and three-quarter lengths in a benchmark 64 over 1250m.

Adrian Bott said they would chase black-type with the Hollywood handsome  3-year-old colt.

"We went to Hawkesbury very confident. He started hard in the market and it was a bit of a headscratcher that day," Adrian Bott said.

"Getting out in distance to a bit of a trip today, he was in a better rhythm throughout the race and showed nice improvement.

"He is a nice progressive horse. We thought a lot of him from the outset. He is a Saturday class horse and we believe we can get some black-type with him.

"I’m sure he will improve off the back of today.”

Bred by Sir Own Glenn’s Go Bloodstock, Critique cost China Horse Club/Newgate Bloodstock/Trilogy Racing $775,000 from the Newgate Farm draft at the 2022 Magic Millions.

Critique a $775,000 Magic Millions yearling

Critique is the second winner for the stakes-placed Snitzel mare Slumber Party, which was an $800,000 purchase for Paul Moroney Bloodstock/Sir Owen Glenn at the 2017 National Broodmare Sale, having sold for $620,000 to Gai Waterhouse Racing/Jon Kelly (USA) at the 2015 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

A granddaughter of Not A Single Doubt’s Group II-placed half-sister Hanky Panky (Anabaa), Slumber Party has a yearling filly by Zoustar and missed last spring.
