The first Australian two year-old stakes races last weekend produced the perfect start for Newgate Farm’s young first season sire Tassort when he sired Manaal to win the Group III ATC Gimcrack Stakes and as it happens he has two entries for the 2023 NZB Ready to Run Sale.

A Godolphin blueblood that showed dazzling speed in his only two race starts, Tassort was snapped up for stud duties in a joint venture between Newgate  and Emirates Park, who have supported the son of Brazen Beau with some top quality mares.

He did cover outside mares as well and a couple of his two year-olds have found their way to New Zealand after being pinhooked from Australian weanling sales.

Tassort has two entries for the NZB Ready to Run Sale.

Lot 22 from Riversley Park is a gelding from Eminence, a two time winning Bernardini (USA) mare that is a grand-daughter of Group I winner Heart Ruler from the family of Group I winners Egg Tart, Coronation Day and Born to Be Queen. Bernardini mares have produced 80 stakes-winners, 15 of them G1 winners.

Lot 183 from Prima Park is a colt from Plethora (USA), a proven producing stakes-winning import that has left two winners including stakes-placed Poppy’s Destiny in the US.

Plethora is a grand-daughter of champion sire Giant’s Causeway and mares carrying his blood have a great record with Tassort’s sire Brazen Beau, the nick producing eight winners from 10 starters highlighted by European Group winners The Ridler and Vadream.

The 2023 edition of the Sale will take place at the Karaka Sales Centre from 11am (NZT) on 22 & 23 November with Breeze Ups to be held at Te Rapa Racecourse on 16 & 17 October. Click here for the full catalogue.
