What Price for Lezoo?

Tara Madgwick - Thursday September 21

A Tweet this morning from UK based auction house Tattersalls will have sparked plenty of interest from Australian breeders with news Zoustar’s 2022 Champion European 2YO Filly Lezoo will be offered for sale later this year at the Tattersalls December Mares Sale.

by Chasemore Farm, Lezoo made 77,000 guineas at the 2021 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale and then was re-sold at the 2022 Arqana Breeze Up Sale fetching 110,000 euros when bought by Atlas Bloodstock.

Trained throughout her career by Ralph Beckett, Lezoo was up and running quickly, winning three of her first four starts before closing out her juvenile season with a win in the Group I Cheveley Park Stakes (6f) at Newmarket.

Her lone defeat at two was when second to subsequent Group I Newmarket Thousand Guineas winner Mawj in the Group II Newmarket Duchess of Cambridge Stakes confirming her status as a seriously top class filly.

Given the commercial appeal of Group winning Zoustar fillies offered in Australia this year, Lezoo is going to be in hot demand.

In recent months we have seen Group winning Zoustar fillies North Star Lass and Kiku both sold in online sales off the track, the former selling for $1.525million and the latter for $1.46million.

How much for Lezoo?

Zoustar is Australia's leading sire by winner this season.

A regular shuttler to Tweenhills in the UK from his base at Widden Stud in Australia, Zoustar has significant entries for upcoming European yearling sales and given his 2023 Magic Millions average of $628,667 (30 sold), his Northern Hemisphere stock will represent great value for the educated buyer.

He has eight entries for Goffs Orby Book 1 (September 26, 27), two lots for Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 1 (October 3 – 5) and 12 for Tattersalls October Book 2 (October 9 – 11).
