Overwhelming Interest in Raheen Stud New Recruit Top Ranked

Media Release - Wednesday September 20

The announcement of Top Ranked (IRE), the sole Australian Group 1 winner by Dark Angel available for stud service this season in Australia, has ignited a fervour among breeders near and far and Basil Nolan, a stalwart figure at Raheen Stud, has been inundated with inquiries.

G1 winner Top Ranked (IRE) is the only son of Dark Angel in Queensland, click for a Hypo mating.

Nolan expressed his astonishment at the overwhelming response, noting that even long-lost acquaintances have reached out. What's particularly gratifying for him is the calibre of mares seeking Top Ranked. The fact that esteemed judges and rival stallion farms are entrusting their mares and investing in breeding rights speaks volumes about the horse's potential as a leading first-season sire.

Yet, it's not just the horse's popularity that has impressed Nolan. Like many stud owners, he eagerly awaited fertility results from the initial mating’s, and Top Ranked's performance in this regard has been exceptional.

Despite limited practice, the horse displayed a remarkable eagerness to fulfill his duties. Nine out of his first ten mares have been confirmed in foal, a significant achievement, especially considering a few were known to be challenging breeders.

With such positive developments, Top Ranked seems poised to clinch the Honours for the first season as a stallion. The combination of his track record, accessibility as a stud, and remarkable fertility position him as an exceptional choice for breeders in Queensland.
