Breednet Follow the Official Sydney 2YO Trials - Heats 1 - 3

Tara Madgwick - Monday September 18

All 2YO heats this morning run at Randwick over 850m.

Heat 3 – Colts – Fearless – 49.69 seconds

Interesting heat where they all jumped together and Justify colt French Empire led with the benefit of the rail. He was overpowered late firstly by Snitzel colt Prost, who looked set to win before the Peter and Paul Snowden trained Pierata colt Fearless dived late to score a head win.

Fearless was a $220,000 Inglis Classic purchase.

Fearless was a $220,000 Inglis Classic purchase for James Harron Bloodstock from the Highgrove Stud draft and is from Matildare, a half-sister by Rothesay to the dam of champion sprinter Starspangledbanner with Group I winner Amicus also on the page. He is from the first crop of Group I winning sprinter Pierata, who switched from Aquis to Yulong this year.

Heat 2 – Fillies – Lady of Camelot – 49.04 seconds

Gai Waterhouse and Adran Bott struck again in the second heat with Written Tycoon filly Lady of Camelot jumping fast to sit outside the leader and she powered away down the running to win as she pleased by a big margin.

Written Tycoon is the sire of Lady of Camelot.

A homebred for Sir Owen Glenn’s Go Bloodstock, Lady of Camelot is the third foal of stakes-winning Fastnet Rock mare Miss Debutante, whose first two foals are Group winning fillies Queen of the Ball and Platinum Jubilee. Based on this trial it’s quite possible Miss Debutante will get the hat-trick of stakes-winners with her first three foals! Miss Debutante produced her first colt last spring by Flying Arite and is  due to foal to I Am Invincible, the sire of Queen of the Ball.

Heat 1 – Colts - Straight Charge – 48.46 seconds

Ridd

en with plenty of purpose by Regan Bayliss, the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Written By colt Straight Charge was sent forward to lead and when challenged and headed by Shalaa (IRE) colt Roselyn’s Star he fought back to draw clear and win in the Yulong colours.

Straight Charge was a $270,000 Magic Millions purchase.

A $270,000 Magic Millions purchase for Yulong from the Lime Country Thoroughbreds draft, Straight Charge was a successful pinhook having made $160,000 for Twin Hills Stud at the Inglis Weanling Sale. He is bred to go fast being from Matryoshka, a half-sister by I Am Invincible to Group winners Winning Rupert and Tycoon Evie, who are both by Written By’s champion sire Written Tycoon.
