Anticipation Builds for First Aussie Runners Blue Point and Too Darn Hot

Tara Madgwick - Friday September 15

Darley shuttlers Blue Point (IRE) and Too Darn Hot (GB) have been doing exciting things in Europe with their first two year-olds, the Royal Ascot sprint hero producing two new winners overnight to move to a total of 35, while the champion son of Dubawi  has another high class filly in Darnation.

Fresh from siring his first Group I winner last weekend in Fallen Angel, Darnation stepped up in class and distance to win the Group II May Hill Stakes (1m) at Doncaster following on from a Group III victory at Goodwood over 7f  last month.

Trained by Karl Burke, who also prepares Fallen Angel, Darnation was ridden by Clifford Lee and swept to a dominant three length win as favourite and has wthree of four starts.

“Darnation is a classy filly, on that ground she's very good. We'll have to see how she is on quicker ground but she's tough, she stays and she's just very good. She's not in the Fillies' Mile but she is in the G1 Prix Marcel Boussac,” said Karl Burke.

“I haven't spoken to the owners but she'd be more likely to get her ground in France. Who knows about next year? She's not the biggest in the world but she should strengthen up even if she doesn't grow much and if she bumps into soft ground she could be anything. On fast ground Fallen Angel would be in front of her and the ground is the key to this filly.”

A homebred for Newtown Anner Stud, Darnation is the first winner for Monday Monday, an unraced half-sister by Galileo to Champion 3YO Filly Blue Bunting and to the dam of Group III winner Poker Face and stakes-winner Star Devine.
