Frankel Mare Wins in Famous Colours

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday September 13

With G1 Makybe Diva Stakes day at Flemington on Saturday and the great mare set to make a cameo appearance at the track where she made history it only seems fitting that her famed colours should have been carried to victory at Canterbury on Wednesday by a promising daughter of Frankel.

Lightly raced four year-old mare Our Maryanne has been given plenty of time to mature by Clarry Conners and was stepped up in class to a Benchmark 72 event over 1900m after breaking her maiden two starts ago in facile fashion at Newcastle.

She travelled kindly back in the field for Andrew Adkins and swept home down the outside to score a half length win and has the good record of two wins and two placings from just six starts.

Clarry Conners was well pleased with the win and believes he has a nice mare for the future, although was keen to look at sending her to the paddock given how good a job she has done in her first preparation.

Andrew Adkins was also full of praise for Our Maryanne, having had two rides on her for two wins!

Our Maryanne was bred by Strawberry Hill Stud, but sold as an unraced three year-old filly on their behalf earlier this year at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale in the Newgate Consignment where she was snapped up by Makybe for just $55,000.

Our Maryanne is looking like a savvy investment as she is the first winner for blueblood More Than Ready (USA) mare This Time Bridie, who was sold at the recent Strawberry Hill Dispersal is not in foal for $100,000 to G P & J A Nolan.

This Time Bridie looks a great buy for $100,000!

This Time Bridie is an unraced half-sister to Group I winner Fenway, the dam of Group I placed Group III winner Williamsburg, and is a grand-daughter of Joie Denise being from her Zabeel daughter Deedra.

A yearling half-sister by Street Boss (USA) to Our Maryanne from This Time Bridie also sold at the Strawberry Hill Dispersal for $60,000 to great judge Jim Carey.
