The most talked about mare from last weekend’s stellar round of spring stakes racing was the champion Kiwi trained sprinter Imperatriz and the 2023 NZB Ready to Run Sale features an I Am invincible colt bred along very similar lines.

A five time Group I winner that broke the track record at Moonee Valley when winning the Group II MVRC McEwen Stakes (1000m), Imperatriz is by I Am Invincible from a daughter of renowned shuttle sire Shamardal.

The I Am Invincible nick with Shamardal line mares is a super interesting one as the champion sire and his sire sons Brazen Beau and Hellbent have produced eight winners from 11 runners bred this way with Imperatriz the best of four stakes-winners that also feature European Group winners The Ridler and Vadream (both by Brazen Beau) as well as I Am Invincible’s first European stakes-winner Lake Hamana.

Shamardal’s best sire son to date is Lope de Vega and his daughters have 100% success with the I Am Invincible sire line with two winners from two runners and they are Group II winner The Ridler and Group III placed Blatant.

Lot 107 from Ohukia Lodge is bred on this proven Black Type producing nick being a bay colt by I Am Invincible from Lope de Vega (IRE) mare Lope de Lope.

He is the first living foal of the Sydney metro winning daughter of dual stakes-winner Litter, who comes from an international female family tracing back to blue hen Cosmah, the dam of champion sire Halo.

Also bred along similar lines is Lot 229 from Pertab Racing, a Charm Spirit (IRE) colt from Shamardal mare Shama de Oro.

The 2023 edition of the Sale will take place at the Karaka Sales Centre from 11am (NZT) on 22 & 23 November with Breeze Ups to be held at Te Rapa Racecourse on 16 & 17 October. Click here for the full catalogue.
