40th Stakes-Winner for Zoustar

Tara Madgwick - Sunday September 10

The Group III Sirenia Stakes (6f) was run overnight at Kempton in the UK with victory going to two year-old Zoustar colt Starlust, who became the 40th stakes-winner for his Widden Stud based sire.

Trained by Ralph Beckett and ridden by Hector Crouch, Starlust had two previous wins and a second coming into this tougher assignment and was tenacious to the line to win by a head.

“It's always nice to win a Group race. This wasn't my idea, it was Jim Hay's racing manager Alex Cole. It was his suggestion to run here and he was bang on,” said Ralph Beckett.

“Starlust is entered in the Group 2 Mill Reef Stakes on September 23rd. That race comes quite quick, but we'll see.”

Starlust was purchased for 55,000 guineas by Dermot Farrington from the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 2 and is a half-brother to stakes-winner Queen of Desire from Group III winning Invincible Spirit sprinter Beyond Desire.

Starlust is the third Northern Hemisphere stakes-winner this year for Zoustar joining Miaharris and Lezoo, who was the Champion European 2YO Filly last year.

Zoustar is fully booked at Widden Stud at a fee of $220,000.
