Triple Crown Announce New Co-Director and Shareholder

Media Release - Wednesday August 30

Triple Crown announces the departure of Michael Ward and names Sam Manion to join the company’s founder, Chris Ward, as new co-Director and Shareholder effective 1st October 2023.

Sam Manion

Michael joined Triple Crown as co-Director and Shareholder in 2006 following the establishment of the business by his brother, Chris, in 2003. Together the brothers have built one of Australia’s leading racehorse syndication businesses thanks to their shared goal of exposing people to the life-changing opportunities in racehorse ownership and their successful and methodical selection process for new horses. In their time together, Triple Crown has enjoyed 41 Group race wins in addition to winning The Everest, the world’s richest turf race, twice.

Michael has been contemplating new opportunities outside of Triple Crown and wanted to secure a suitable, professional and experienced individual to take his place. Sam Manion, of the multi-generational horse racing Manion family, joined Triple Crown earlier this year as Racing Manager and has already made a significant contribution.

“Sam will provide a seamless transition for Triple Crown, it’s owners and trainers”, Mike says. “Triple Crown has been a huge part of my life for 18 years and I will watch on with interest as they continue their success on the track, hopefully sooner rather than later with Mazu again running in the upcoming TAB Everest.” Michael is looking forward to pursuing new opportunities when the handover is complete.

Manion has known the Ward brothers for over 25 years and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the business. Chris says, “Sam has become an irreplaceable part of Triple Crown since joining our team. He has 20 years of operational expertise and experience in customer relationship management so our owners will continue to be in great hands.” Chris continues, “Mike and I have shared an amazing journey with Triple Crown and just had so much fun working together. Equally, I’m great mates with Sam and we have some exciting plans to grow and diversify Triple Crown which I’m looking forward to.”

This opportunity is a dream come true for me” Sam says. “We’re a passionate racing family and to incorporate my love for the industry into my work every day is a huge blessing”.

“I’m excited to add to Triple Crown’s huge success with plans to further enhance the ownership experience for current and future owners.”
