Siyouni colt from Hourglass

The sales auditorium was packed when it came to the turn of an eagerly awaited son of Siyouni (lot 244) to go under the hammer. Out of a half-sister to the top-class racehorse and late sire SHAMARDAL, the colt was offered from Écurie des Monceaux. Following a long bidding war, it was M.V Magnier (Coolmore) that had the final say at €2,2 million for the colt that hails from the excellent family of HELEN STREET, STREET CRY, VICTOR LUDORUM and TERRITORIES.

A few minutes earlier, he had also signed the docket at €800,000 for a son of Wootton Bassett (lot 243), also from Écurie des Monceaux. The well-bred grandson of Group 1 winner DAMSON hails from the close family of this season’s Queen Elizabeth Stakes and Ranvet Stakes (Gr.1s) scorer DUBAI HONOUR, as well as the talented REQUINTO, LAST KINGDOM, LILIKOI, TASSMOUN and WHISKY BARON etc.

“They’re lovely horses,” said M.V. Magnier about the two colts. “We sold their dams a few years ago and have now come back to buy their progeny. Ecurie des Monceaux is an incredible stud and they do an excellent job. We’re very happy with these two purchases.”

Son of Wootton Bassett for Japanese trainer Yoshito Yahagi

Wootton Bassett colt from Magic America.
Buyers were once again crowding around the ring to secure a son of Wootton Bassett out of Prix de Miesque (Gr.3) scorer and Prix Morny (Gr.1) placed MAGIC AMERICA (lot 281) from Coulonces. The hammer fell at €1 million in favour of Japanese trainer Yoshito Yahagi for the half-brother to Listed winner and Group placed LOOK AROUND, that hails from the family of the very talented DELILAH, DRAMA, TYCOON’S DRAMA and ENDLESS DRAMA.

Son of Camelot for Godolphin

Very active over the three days and bidding on behalf of Godolphin, Anthony Stroud struck during the day’s session for a son of Camelot out of Group winning and Group 1 placed mare LADY FRANKEL (lot 267). Consigned by Gestüt Ammerland, the colt hails from the family of LADY VETTORI, LOPE DE VEGA, BAL DE LA ROSE and DANCETERIA and was sold for €850,000. “He’s a lovely horse,” said Anthony Stroud. “We bought his half-brother by Shamardal here last year. We really like this colt and it’s a real stallion’s pedigree. We are very happy.”
