Arqana Purchase a New SW for Dubawi

Tara Madgwick - Thursday August 17

With the Arqana Deauville Yearling Sale starting this weekend in France it was only fitting that a two year-old Dubawi colt bought at the sale last year by Godolphin for €600,000 would become the latest stakes-winner for his champion sire when taking out the Listed Stonehenge Stakes (1m) at Salisbury.

Trained by Charlie Appleby and ridden by William Buick, Arabian Crown scored an easy two and a quarter length win over another Dubawi colt Arabic Legend with Too Darn Hot colt Son in third place.

It was the  third year in a row Charlie Appleby has won this race and Arabian Crown has now won two of three starts and heads next to the Group II Royal Lodge Stakes at Sandown on September 30.

Arabian Crown is a half-brother to Group II winner The Juliet Rose and full brother to stakes-winner Everest Rose being the third stakes-winner among sevenw winners from outstanding stakes-winning producer Dubai Rose. It’s also the family of last year’s Group I winning stayer Sea La Rosa and Group II winning stayer Deauville Legend, who contested the Melbourne Cup.

Arabian Crown was a 600,000 euro purchase in Deauville for Godolphin.

Arabian Crown is the 259th stakes-winner for champion sire Dubawi, whose champion son Too Darn Hot had the third placed colt in the Stonehenge Stakes in Son as well as two new winners with Magsood successful at Beverley and Ahlain a winner at Kempton.
