Tara Madgwick - Wednesday August 16

Australia’s reigning Champion First Season sire Justify (USA) has had a hot run in the Northern Hemisphere with his two year-olds this year and had another debut winner at Dundalk overnight that holds entries for upcoming Group races.

Trained by Aidan O’Brien and ridden by Seamie Heffernan, two year-old colt Capulet made his debut in the 1m maiden on the all weather track and was strong to the line scoring  by three-quarters of a length with five lengths back to the third horse.

“He’s a beautiful, big horse and I liked him plenty,” said Seamie Heffernan.

“Aidan told me to ride him wherever he was comfortable. He has a beautiful way of galloping and gave me a beautiful feel. He felt like he’s a proper racehorse. He has a good attitude and kept finding and responding.”

A homebred for the Coolmore partners, Capulet is entered for the Group II Royal Lodge Stakes (1m) at Newmarket at the end of September.

He is the second winner from Group II winning Galileo mare Wedding Vow, a full sister to Group I Epsom Derby winner Serpentine and Group winners Bye Bye Baby, Beacon Rock and stakes-winner Bound. The family has also produced numerous Group I winners including European Horse of the Year Dylan Thomas and Champion 2YO Fillies Queen’s Logic and Shale.

Capulet is the tenth two year-old winner for Justify in the Northern Hemisphere this year and three of them are stakes-winners – City of Troy, Ramatuelle and US trained Living Magic.

Justify is back at Coolmore Australia this spring at a fee of $77,000.
