Street Cry Blood on a Budget

Breednet - Sunday August 13

The Street Cry (IRE) sireline accounted for an impressive six individual Australian Group I winners last season and for Victorian breeders on a budget looking to tap into that success, Larneuk Stud based Wolf Cry is an affordable breed to race option with a good winner to runner strike rate.

Wolf Cry, test your mare with a Hypo mating.

A dual hemisphere success story, Street Cry has left a lasting legacy in this country through the deeds of his legendary champion daughter Winx and his recently retired nine time Group I winning grand-son Anamoe, who will cover a stellar book at Darley NSW at a fee of $121,000.

While Anamoe’s sire Street Boss (USA) is back on the Darley Victoria roster this spring, his fee of $66,000 is beyond the reach of the owner breeder, while Wolf Cry can offer similar bloodlines to Anamoe and is priced at $3,300.

Group placed at two, Wolf Cry has a superb pedigree with his first three dams by champion sires Redoute’s Choice, Centaine and Bletchingly with his female family tracing in tail female line to blue hen Eau d’Etoile, the dam of three Group I winners in Golden Slipper winner Bint Marscay, Filante and Kenny’s Best Pal.

For limited opportunities he has sired 11 winners from 21 runners and three of them are Black Type performers General Wolffe, Wolves and Prowling, who has been racing well in Melbourne during the winter.

With four wins and nine placings from 19 starts, this Greg Eurell trained five year-old has already won over $266,000 in prizemoney with more wins in store, while progressive country gelidn Outback Cod became his first winner of the new season when scoring at Gilgandra last week.

Running at 52% winners to runners, Wolf Cry is a great option for an owner breeder chasing the special magic Street Cry can bring to a pedigree- the following Group I winners last season were all sired by sons of Street Cry – Anamoe (Street Boss (USA)), Bella Nipotina (Pride of Dubai), Dubai Honour (IRE) (Pride of Dubai), Roch’n’ Horse (NZ) (Per Incanto(USA), Little Brose (Per Incanto (USA), I’m Thunderstruck (NZ) (Shocking).
