First Stakes-Winner for Too Darn Hot

Tara Madgwick - Sunday August 13

Fallen Angel was the first winner for Darley shuttler Too Darn Hot (GB) when scoring on debut at Haydock back in May and she became his first stakes-winner when taking out the Group III Sweet Solera Stakes (7f) at Newmarket overnight.

Trained by Kevin Burke and ridden by Daniel Tudhope, Fallen Angel was favourite for her first Graded test following a last start second in a Listed race. She created a big impression powering clear of Starspangledbanner filly Soprano to win by three lengths with Blue Point filly Les Blues in third place.

“It was very impressive,” Tudhope said.

“I probably learned a lot about her the last day at Sandown, I maybe didn't make as much use of her but the ground that day was very soft and you're always a bit wary of how quick you're going. This filly stays this trip well, she wants a mile now and she may even get 10 furlongs in time. The further she went today the better–she powered clear up the hill. She's just a classy filly who goes on all types of ground and she's got a great mind on her. The future is very bright.”

Fallen Angel was bred by Branton Court Stud and was not offered at auction. She is a half-sister to stakes-placed Divine Jewel from Group II winning Lawman mare Agnes Stewart.

Fallen Angel is the first stakes-winner among eight winners from 33 starters by Too Darn Hot.

A Champion 2YO Colt and 3YO Colt by Dubawi, Too Darn Hot has had his first Australian bred yearlings sell this year for up to $1million and will have his first runners this season. He returns to Darley this spring at a fee of $44,000.
