Hellbent Ends Season with Debut 2YO Winner

Tara Madgwick - Monday July 31

Yarraman Park’s Hellbent has had a very successful season and finished with a 12th two year-old winner after Canny Hell made a winning debut to score by three lengths on Monday.

Sent out a short priced favourite for the 1000m maiden at Corowa, the Kym Davison trained gelding gave his rivals a galloping lesson to win as he pleased.

Canny Hell was a $50,000 Inglis Classic purchase for Davison Racing Stables from the Yarraman Park draft and is the first winner for Balady (IRE), a winning half-sister by Zamindar to highly successful import Junoob (GB), a multiple Group and stakes-winner in Australia.

Canny Hell was a $50,000 Inglis Classic purchase.

Balady had another yearling colt by Hellbent sell at Karaka Book 1 this year for $180,000 after being sold by Yarraman for $80,000 at the Inglis Australian Weanling Sale last year.

Canny Hell is the 55th Australian winner of the season for Hellbent, who with $5.3 million in seasonal earnings is second to only Russian Revolution on the Australian Second Crop Sires list by winners and earnings.

Hellbent is a G1 winning son of I Am Invincible.

Hellbent sired two stakes-winners in Group winning fillies Magic Time and the Annabel Neasham trained Kristilli, who is listed to barrier trial at Canterbury on Tuesday morning with James McDonald to ride.

Hellbent has earned a fee increase for this spring and is fully booked at $38,500.
