One to Watch – Kembla

Tara Madgwick - Thursday July 27

A strong juvenile maiden at Kembla on Thursday produced an impressive win for a $1.35million I Am Invincible colt carrying the colours of James Harron Bloodstock.

Trained by Peter and Paul Snowden, Andronicus showed nice talent in two barrier trials last month before making his debut at Newcastle to finish second on July 8 to the Godolphin colt Diabelli.

Ridden by Josh Parr, he chimed in at the furlong and was very strong to the line, powering clear to win the 1300m contest by a length and three-quarters.

Bought by the  James Harron Bloodstock Colt Partnership from the Segenhoe draft at Inglis Easter, Andronicus runs for a big syndicate of JHB clients including Fairway Thoroughbreds, who bred the colt.

He is a half-brother to stakes-winner Millane and is the third winner from three foals to race from Group III winning Snitzel mare Fireworks, a half-sister to Group I winner Calveen and Group II winner Kosi Bay from a prolific Black Type family.

Andronicus was a $1.35million Inglis Easter purchase from Segenhoe.

Fireworks was exported to the UK in 2021 and produced a filly by Frankel last year.

Andronicus is the 19th Australian two year-old winner of the season for champion sire I Am Invincible.
