Hell Hound Ends Season with a Win

Tara Madgwick - Saturday July 22

Talented Hellbent filly Hell Hound was not far away in some competitive stakes races last spring and found her best form to win at Caulfield on Saturday.

Trained by Mick Price and Michael Kent Jr, Hell Hound won her only two starts as a juvenile before stepped up to Black Type company and appreciated a drop back to a Benchmark 72 over 1400m.

She finished with a well timed run for Beau Mertens to snatch a head win taking her overall record to three wins from 10 starts with prizemoney just shy of $160,000.

A homebred for Phoenix Thoroughbreds, Hell Hound is a half-sister to Group II winner Letzbeglam and stakes-placed Snazz ‘n’ Charm and is the fourth winner from four foals to race from well-bred import Miss Charming (USA), a sibling to dual Group I winner Tout Charmant and Group III winner Forest Grove.

Hell Hound is the 54th winner this season for Hellbent, who is running second by earnings and winners on the second crop sires list behind only Russian Revolution, who stands for more than twice his service fee.

Hellbent is fully booked at Yarraman Park at a fee of $38,500.
