Tango Fever Breaks Maiden in Style

Mark Smith - Saturday July 15

Punters did not have a moment's worry when the More Than Ready (USA) filly Tango Fever made a winning debut for the Robert Heathcote stable in Saturday's Ladbrokes Yard Comments Hcp (1200m) at Eagle Farm.

Under little urging from Martin Harley, Tango Fever strolled to the front 300m out to defeat He's For The Girls (Rothesay) by two and a quarter lengths, with Five Star Vixen (Headwater) a half-length back in third.

Tango Fever made two starts for Gary Portelli, who had a reasonable opinion of the daughter of More Than Ready (USA).

She was narrowly beaten in a valuable race at the Gold Coast when on debut in November before finishing unplaced in the $500,000 Inglis Nursery at Randwick.

A $140,000 purchase for Munetos Racing from the Vinery Stud draft at the 2022 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, Tango Fever is the fourth winner for the metropolitan-winning Anabaa mare Tango Fire.

Bred by Greg Perry, Tango Fever is a half-sister to Group II Queen Of The South winner Tango's Daughter (Redoute's Choice) and stakes-placed winner Tango Rain (Manhattan Rain).

Tango Fever a $140,000 Inglis Premier yearling

Dabernig Bloodstock / Pinhook Bloodstock (FBAA) shelled out $100,000 for Tango Fire's Headwater colt consigned by Longwood Thoroughbred Farm to the 2023 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.

After foaling a Peltzer filly last spring, Tango Fire revisited the Twin Hills Stud's handsome son of So You Think.

Tango Fever is the second 2yo winner from the final crop of 69 foals for the former Vinery Stud stalwart More Than Ready (USA).
