One to Watch – Gosford

Tara Madgwick - Thursday July 13

He’s a very good trainer and also a pretty good breeder and Anthony Cummings gave us a One to Watch on Thursday when his homebred filly combining the blood of two Twin Hills Stud sires saluted at Gosford.

The only two year-old in the 1200m maiden, Denman filly Vos Savant was having her second start following an encouraging debut run when seventh in a strong midweek juvenile fillies maiden at Warwick Farm last month.

Ridden by Keagan Latham, she zoomed home from last on the turn to win by a neck doing her best work on the line.

Vos Savant is the first winner from Smart Miss, a placed Smart Missile mare from Terrestria, an unraced half-sister to a pair of Group I winners both trained by Anthony Cummings in Hotel Grand and Outback Prince.

Vos Savant is the first runner and first winner ever by Denman from a daughter of Smart Missile, with both stallions standing at Twin Hills Stud this spring.

A Group I winning son of Lonhro, Denman is priced at $8,800 with Fastnet Rock's Group I producing son Smart Missile at $13,200.
