Five and a Half Million Dollars for a Contrail Colt

Mark Smith - Tuesday July 11

The Contrail (JPN) babies are proving hugely popular at the JRHA Select Foal Sale, and a colt out of the City Banker mare Conviction, a Group 1 winner in Argentina, proved irresistible for Koji Maeda’s North Hills Co. Ltd, who forked out ¥520m (A$5,468,000) for the Northern Park consigned colt.

Koji Maeda raced Contrail (JPN), and the champion’s former jockey Yuichi Fukunaga will train the high-priced colt, a half-brother to two winners.
