2YO Zoustar Filly Salutes for Cressfield

Tara Madgwick - Thursday July 6

Bred and retained to race by Cressfield, talented two year-old Zoustar filly Spring Lee improved sharply at her second start to score a fast finishing win at Gosford on Thursday.

Trained by Bjorn Baker, Spring Lee was a close up seventh on debut in a strong provincial juvenile race that featured quality I Am Invincible fillies Estriella and Sicilian, who won at Randwick on Wednesday.

She was allowed to settled just off the pace by Rachel King and unwound a good finish to charge home and beat race favourite Getty by a neck in the 1000m juvenile maiden.

Spring Lee is the second winner for brilliantly fast Group I placed Group II winning sprinter Wild Rain, who comes from the family of Australian Horse of the Year Northerly and current Group winning sprint star Overpass, who is also trained by Bjorn Baker.

Cressfield sold a yearling filly by Snitzel from Wild Rain for $350,000 at Magic Millions this year to Black Type Bloodstock and she has another Snitzel filly to follow and is in foal to Home Affairs.

Spring Lee is the 15th two year-old winner of the season for Widden Stud’s champion sire Zoustar, who stands at a fee of $220,000 this spring.
