The Wallet Makes it 19 2yo Winners for Spirit Of Boom

Mark Smith - Tuesday July 4

After placing in four of his previous six starts, The Wallet broke through over 1200m at Townsville on Tuesday to become the 19th 2yo winner of the season for Spirit Of Boom.

Ridden by Graham Kliese for Roy Chillemi, The Wallet enjoyed the run of the race tracking the leaders Spring’s Gift and Mama’s Man before hitting the lead at the 250m to defeat the 3yo Sebring filly Spring's Gift by a length with the 3yo The Mission filly Kangerong Miss a further one and a quarter length back in third.

“He is just learning what it’s all about,” Chillemi said.

“He will be a better 3yo. He got a bit lost when he hit the front, because he is not used to be out there on hos own and he will improve on that.”

The Wallet was an $80,000 purchase for Group 1 Pty Ltd from the draft of his breeder Eureka Stud at the 2022 Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale.

A half-brother to Group 1 MRC Oakleigh Plate and Group 1 MVRC AJ Moir Stakes winner Pippie (Written Tycoon), The Wallet is the fourth winner for the talented Ne Coupez Pas (USA) mare Coupe Express.

A $60,000 yearling, Pippie was a $1,800,000 purchase for Tasman Bloodstock from the Sledmere Stud draft at the 2021 Inglis Chairman's Sale.

Kendrick Racing bought a sister to Pippie for $200,000 when consigned by Eureka Stud to the 2023 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.

After missing in 2021, Coupe Express visited Capitalist last spring.

The Wallet is the 19th individual 2yo winner of the season for Spirit Of Boom as the season enters the final few weeks.
