Sires by Bloodline – More Than Ready

Tara Madgwick - Thursday June 29

One of the most successful shuttle sires to ever come to Australia, More Than Ready (USA) was a much loved favourite at Vinery Stud.

More Than Ready (USA) has sons and grand-sons at stud and also sired the dams of three Aussie G1 winners this season.

A Halo line sire that shuttled for 19 seasons to Australia with his last visit in 2019, More Than Ready covered over 2300 mares here during that time, so he’s had a big influence and having sired over 200 stakes-winners worldwide you would like to think his male descendants might have more to offer.

Sebring died in 2019, but has left a legacy with a growing number of sons at stud.

His Golden Slipper winning colt Sebring proved a resounding success at Widden Stud, but died at age 13 at the height of his fame with a number of his younger sons now showing real promise.

Widden Stud stand two of them with Supido based in NSW and Gold Standard in Victoria, while Blue Gum Farm have an exciting new recruit with brilliant juvenile Sejardan set to cover his first mares this spring.

The best active son of More Than Ready is Lyndhurst Stud’s Better Than Ready, who has found a real niche as a prolific source of juvenile winners including this year’s Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Skirt the Law. He achieved his early success the hard way standing for his four seasons at a fee of $9,900 before earning a fee increase and better quality mares with his yearlings this year selling for up to $530,000.
