2YO Pierro Filly Salutes

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday June 28

Pierro has been in hot form of late racking up his 100th winner of the season last weekend and the winners kept coming at Eagle Farm on Wednesday with the Ingham family homebred two year-old filly Utopian Wine opening her account at her second start.

Prepared by Chris Waller, Utopian Wine finished fifth at her first run back in March at Randwick and was sent to Brisbane with two recent trials under her belt so was ready to fire.

She hit the line well to win by half a length over her stablemate Denote, another promising filly by Justify (USA) that turned in a great effort on debut.

“Utopian Wine had no luck at Randwick and Denote will take great improvement from this run,” said stable representative Brett Killion.

“Both fillies have a very nice future.”

Utopian Wine was bred and retained to race by the Ingham family and is the second winner from well bred Redoute’s Choice mare Dystopia, a Group III winning multiple stakes-winning full sister to Golden Slipper winner and sire Stratum.

She was foaled and raised and educated at Coolmore.

Utopian Wine is bred on the very successful Pierro x Redoute’s Choice nick that runs at 14% SW to runner with nine stakes-winners bred this way headed by Group I winners Arcadia Queen, Levendi and Regal Power.

Pierro has sired over 100 winners this season!

Pierro stands at a fee of $82,500 this spring at Coolmore.
