More Stakes Success for Fastnet Rock

Tara Madgwick - Monday June 26

Bred on the magic Fastnet Rock x Galileo cross, lightly raced five year- old gelding Fenelon made it back to back stakes wins when taking out the Listed Lyon-Parilly Grand Prix de Lyon (2400m) on Sunday in France capping a great week for Fastnet Rock.

Trained by Nicolas Clement, Fenelon raced clear to win by two and a half lengths taking his overall record to six wins and three palcings from 11 starts with three of those wins in stakes races.

Passed in as a yearling, Fenelon runs for his breeders Haras Du Mezeray S A & Ecurie Skymarc Farm and is the best of three winners from Group III winner Aigue Marine, a half-sister by Galileo to Group I winner Mekhtaal and Group winners Democrate and Normandy Bridge.

Fastnet Rock

Fastnet Rock stands this spring at a fee of $110,000 and is enjoying his usual good season with 11 stakes-winners worldwide since August 1 last year headed by Group II winners Passive Aggressive, Surefire (GB), Corniche and Via Sistina (IRE).

His daughters have also been making their presence felt in a big way this year with three Royal Ascot winners last week – Warm Heart and Okita Soushi – both by Galileo from his Group I winning daughters Sea Siren and Amicus, plus expensive 1.1million guinea colt Age of Kings (Kingman) from his Group II winner Turret Rocks.

Fastnet Rock has sired the dams of 29 stakes-winners worldwide since August 1 last year with Saturday’s Group I Tatts Tiara winner Palaisipan (So You Think) one of four G1 winners joining Zougotcha (Zoustar), Rhea Moon (Starspangledbanner) and Russian Emperor (Galileo).
