Three Straight for Flying on a Limb

Tara Madgwick - Saturday June 24

A new addition at Blue Gum Farm this spring, Flying Artie will be represented at Royal Ascot later tonight when his Group I winning son Artorius lines up in the Group I Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes, but closer to home his progressive three year-old Flying on a Limb made it three wins on the trot when saluting at Caulfield.

Trained by Clinton McDonald  and ridden by Luke Campbell, Flying on a Limb broke her maiden at Cranbourne last month before winning again at Sandown and continued her good form when surging through a gap to post a stylish length and a half victory in the open 3YO handicap over 1000m.

Flying on a Limb has won three of six starts earning over $214,000 in prizemoney.

“The way she won today was quite a dominant win and I think she’s a nice horse for Clinton McDonald and hopefully she can go through her grades and everyone gets to see her in the spring,” said Luke Campbell.

McDonald Racing also purchased the yearling full brother to Flying on a Limb for $140,000 at Inglis Premier this year.

Flying Artie is enjoying his new home at Blue Gum Farm.

Flying Artie has sired four stakes-winners this season in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore stands at a fee of $16,500 this spring.
