Moorookyle Park Support Great Cause

Media Release - Tuesday August 1

Moorookyle Park's Nioka Wozny is looking forward to a big spring with the season's first foals just around the corner!.

"It is always a great time of year," she said, "busy but exciting and satisfying - watching a foal's first wobbly steps reminds us whey we are all in this great game!"

Another aspect of thoroughbred breeding that appeals to Nioka is when members of the sport band together to help those in need, such as what Bloodstockauction.com is doing on Tuesday evening with an online auction of stallion covers to raise money for Ronald MacDonald House, Westmead.

SharkbiteSet to house even more families as they support their children through difficult medical journeys, the new development needs further funding and Nioka is thrilled to donate nominations to Sharkbite, Cecconi and Ustinov.

"It's a wonderful cause and we hope that breeders will get behind Bloodstockauction's initiative," Wozny said.

An imposing stakes winning son of the great Redoute's Choice, Sharkbite has been enjoying a great run of late with his son Clear The Beach a gusty winner at Rosehill on Saturday, recording his third success (his second at metropolitan level) from just nine starts.

The day before Mako Bay impressed kicking lengths clear into the straight at Geelong whilst other recent Sharkbite winners including Owl On The Prowl, Mordacious, Penthouse Pet, Save Me Ned, Samikosho, Hamilton and My Names Bruce.

"Sharkbite is a great owner/breeder VOBIS stallion," Wozny said, noting that over 24% of his winners to date have been successful at metropolitan level.

Also represented by recent winners is Encosta de Lago's Blue Diamond Preview winning son Cecconi whose son Brother One saluted by a wide margin at Wanganui a few days ago.

Cecconi also has a smart one in Hong Kong, the Casper Fownes trained Best Step winning two in a row at Happy Valley in May - yet to finish out of the first four in six starts.

One of the best looking stallions in Victoria, the handsome Ustinov - Group 2 winning son of Seeking The Gold and Let's Elope - is a horse who has done the job despite limited opportunities.

"He has never had big books of mares," Wozny explained, "but despite this has proven a consistent source of nice winners including five stakes winners and another eight stakes performers."

Over 35% of Ustinov's winners have either earned black type or won at metropolitan level, showing that he has what it takes to upgrade his mares.

Bidding is already open on the sale which concludes on Tuesday evening - be sure to have a look and get those bids in!
