Beau Geste will run in the Listed Gothic Stakes over 1400m while Speedway will tackle the Group III Ethereal Stakes over 2000m.

Beau Geste has not missed a place in his four starts, winning twice and finishing third behind unbeaten stable mate Viridine last time out in the Group II Roman Consul Stakes over 1200m at Randwick.

"He gets to step up to 1400m on Saturday and I do think that will suit him - he's by Street Cry and got miler written all over him," Cummings said.

"He's travelled to Melbourne in good order and trained on nicely.

"We've got a good opinion of Viridine - he's unbeaten and won his last two starts in black type races and Beau Geste looks like he's crying out for further.

"He's had his work altered slightly to accommodate the step up in trip and we're really happy with him going into the race."

Damian Lane will be aboard Beau Geste in the Gothic Stakes.

Speedway is also by Street Cry, out of the good mare Glissade, and will be having her ninth start this preparation and her first start on a metropolitan track.

Despite a lengthy campaign, Cummings is pleased with her condition.

"She's got to run the trip - two starts back she was second over 2000m after she looked the winner but was found wanting late on when possibly ridden a bit too aggressively," Cummings said.

"Ridden quietly at her last start she really put them away."

Speedway scored by 3 1/2-lengths last time out over 1600m against older horses at Newcastle and Cummings feels is worth her place in the Group III contest for fillies.

"The Ethereal is a really good race for a filly like Speedway and gives her an opportunity against her own age," Cummings said.

"She's coped with a lot of racing in what is essentially her first preparation really well so we'll see where she sits on Wednesday."
