Sires by Bloodline – Written Tycoon

Tara Madgwick - Friday June 16

Written Tycoon is set to play a role at Royal Ascot next week with his glamour daughter Coolangatta running in the Group I King’s Stand Stakes along with his grand-son Cannonball, so where is he at as a sire of sires?

Written Tycoon will finish his days at Yulong.

Australia’s champion sire in 2020- 2021, Written Tycoon has had a remarkable stud career rising from humble origins to his current standing as a virtual private stallion for Yulong with the rising 21 year-old set to cover some of the best mares in Australia this spring, while his ever growing list of sons at stud continues to expand.

A fast Group II winning juvenile by Iglesia, Written Tycoon started his stud career at a fee of $8,250, before dropping as low as $6,600 and for his first nine seasons never stood for more than $20,000. He stood in Victoria, Queensland, Victoria again, then NSW and finally back to Victoria, so he’s been everywhere and covered everything from billy goats to the cream, so if ever a stallion deserved to spend his twilight years in the lap of luxury covering only elite mares it’s Written Tycoon.

Capitalist already has three sons at stud.

His Golden Slipper winning Champion 2YO Colt Capitalist was an immediate hit at stud paving the way for many more colts to follow in his footsteps and now has three sons at stud to possibly take the sire line even further. An incredibly fertile stallion, Capitalist has covered a whopping 1326 mares in his first six seasons at Newgate.

Ole Kirk will have his first yearlings sell in 2024.

Winner of the G1 Golden Rose and Caulfield Guineas, Vinery Stud’s Ole Kirk has A grade race performance and an A grade pedigree to back him up, so if he does emulate or even exceed the success of Capitalist it will be a surprise to nobody.
