Winning Double for Pierro

Tara Madgwick - Thursday June 15

With six stakes-winners from his current crop of three year-olds, Pierro added two new three year-old winners to his tally at Wyong on Thursday with promising maiden wins for Lysander and Jamrock.

Sent forward at his second start to lead, the David Pfeiffer trained gelding Lysander was not for catching, dashing clear for Jay Ford to win over 1350m by more than a length.

A $180,000 Magic Millions purchase for Waratah Thoroughbreds from the Lime Country draft, Lysander is the third winner from Wedding, a half-sister by Commands to stakes-winners Handfast and Rusambo.

Ringing up the double for Pierro was the Annabel Neasham trained gelding Jamrock, who ended a frustrating run of minor placings to post a resounding five length win in the 1600m maiden.

A $180,000 Inglis Premier purchase for Annabel Neasham Racing / B McGuire from the Widden Stud draft, Jamrock has not missed a place in five starts and with a win under his belt will go forward with plenty of confidence.

Jamrock is the first winner for unraced Exceed and Excel mare Estijmaam, a daughter of Group II placed Sean Baile Mor.

Pierro stands at a fee of $82,500 this spring.

Pierro is getting close to his century of winners for the season with 96 on the board headed by his multiple Group winning three year-old colt Osipenko, who promises to be a spring star for the Chris Waller stable.
