$825,000 Frankel Filly Sets New Record at Inglis Great Southern

Tara Madgwick - Thursday June 8

Burnewang North had high expectations for their Frankel weanling filly from Vedema (Fr) offered at Inglis Great Southern on Thursday and were well rewarded when she sold for $825,000 and for once Yulong weren’t listed as the buyer.

She was knocked down to James Mitchell of Mitchell Bloodstock to set a new record price for his sale and is the first foal of Vedema, an unraced Invincible Spirit daughter of stakes-winner Vedouma, whose next dam is Group I winner Vadawina.

It’s a very successful Aga Khan family that has also produced last year’s Champion European 3YO Colt Vadeni.

Vedema is now in foal to Kia Ora Stud’s Golden Slipper winning sire Farnan, who also made a splash early in the sale with the Bell River Thoroughbreds consigned colt from Voila selling for $170,000 to Suman Hedge Bloodstock (FBAA)/Riverstone Lodge. He is the first foal of good metro winner Choisir mare Voila, a grand-daughter of Group I winner Miltak.

Another early highlight was Burnewang North’s Kingman colt from Sidona (GB) that sold for $240,000 Hong Kong based buyer L Lee.

The same continues.
