Juvenile Trial Watch - Randwick

Tara Madgwick - Friday June 2

The Randwick trials on Friday featured class three year-old Aft Cabin tuning up for his tilt at the Group I BRC Stradbroke Handicap next week and there were also five juvenile heat winners that included a lovely looking filly by Zoustar.

Darley quiet achiever Astern has already sired two Group I winners this season in Golden Mile and Affaire a Suivre and he may well have a third in the pipeline with Aft Cabin looking awesome in his trial win this morning.

Aft Cabin was a last start fourth to Giga Kick in the Group I BRC Doomben 10000 and is going to be in the mix again this time.

The Bjorn Baker stable would have been well pleased with the effort of Zoustar filly Spring Lee, who was sent out for her first ever trial and returned a winner for Rachel King. She travelled three wide tracking the leaders and when urged to the line let down nicely to win held together by two lengths and her last 600, was the quickest of the 2YO’s.

Spring Lee was withdrawn from Inglis Easter and retained to race by leading Hunter Valley nursery Cressfield and is the third foal from brilliant Group II winning sprinter Wild Rain, a daughter of Manhattan Rain from the family of Australian Horse of the Year Northerly and the star Bjorn Baker trained sprinter Overpass.

Additional juvenile heat winners were: Misty Legend (I Am Invincible), Tropical Squall (Prized Icon), Crimson Sky (treach) and Sense of Humour (Pariah).
