Hellbent Winning Double at Wyong

Tara Madgwick - Friday June 2

Yarraman Park’s young gun sire Hellbent had two short priced favourites at Wyong on Thursday and both of them got the cash.

Trained by Kris Lees, lightly raced three year-old gelding Orlabent improved off his second placing at the big Scone meeting last month to power clear and win the 1100m maiden by two and a half lengths.

A $130,000 Inglis Premier purchase for Mitchell Bloodstock from the Mill Park draft, Orlabent is the first winner for Charlotte Square, a winning half-sister by Street Sense (USA) to Group I placed Platinum Balos.

Hellbent brought up the double with the Mark Minervini trained gelding Fire and Ice breaking through for his second win to end a run of placings.

He took the 1100m Benchmark 68 event by two lengths.

Fire and Ice was an $80,000 Inglis Classic purchase for his trainer from the Kitchwin Hills draft and is the first winner for Cersei, an unraced All Too Hard daughter of Group II winner Vormista.

Hellbent has sired 44 winners this season of $4.4 million highlighted by Group II winner Kristilli and Group III winner Magic Time. The Group I winning son of I Am Invincible is fully booked at Yarraman Park at a fee of $38,500.
