Juvenile Trial Watch – Warwick Farm

Tara Madgwick - Friday May 26

Trials were at Warwick Farm on Friday morning and there were seven heats for juveniles with the fastest winner a $1.1million filly by champion sire I Am Invincible, while the three-quarter brother to Chautauqua continues to impress.

Trained by the Peter and Paul Snowden, Rubick colt Need Some Luck looked good winning his second trial this preparation and looks ready to go to the races. He got a bit more of an education this time, travelling smoothly between horses and then surging to the line to win under a hold.

Retained to race by the Throsby family, Need Some Luck is the 13th foal from dual Group I winner Lovely Jubly and was born when she was 21 and appears to be her final foal. She’s been a great producer leaving seven winners highlighted by world champion sprinter Chautauqua and Group III winner London Lolly.

Annabel Neasham has been taking her time with I Am Invincible filly Sounds of Heaven, who has having her fourth trial, but first this preparation. She was fast out of the gates and led all the way to win by the best part of a length in the quickest time for the 2YO heats.

A $1.1million Magic Millions purchase for James Harron Bloodstock from the Segenhoe Stud draft, Sounds of Heaven runs in the colours of her breeder John Camilleri of Fairway Thoroughbreds. She was bred in a foal share arrangement with Yarraman  and Camilleri elected to buy them out and keep the well bred filly to race.

Sounds of Heaven as a yearling.

She is the second foal of Group II placed Villa Carlotta, a half-sister to US based triple Group I winning mare In Italian, who comes from the Twyla branch of the famed Dancing Show (USA) that has given us Redoute’s Choice and so many more G1 winners.

It was a Trapeze Artist quinella in this heat with two unraced colts Trapeze Pleasure and Confringo fighting out the finish. Trained by David Pfeiffer, the winner will be well educated when he goes to the races as this as his fifth trial, while second placed Confringo looked promising at his first outing and is a half-brother to last season’s brilliant juvenile Sejardan.

Passed in as a yearling and retained to race by the Vieira family, Trapeze Pleasure is the first foal from unraced Pierro mare Perfect Pleasure, a half-sister to Group II winner Torio’s Quest and stakes-winner Bippo No Bungus from the family of Group I VRC Oaks winner Sandy’s Pleasure.

Additional heat winners were: Tigers Roar (Jungle Cat(IRE), Sovereign Fund (Capitalist), Love and Light (Capitalist) and Can Expect Greater (Per Incanto (USA).
