$2.3million for Liberty Island Relation Isotope

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday May 23

A Group placed stakes-winner by Deep Field, Isotope was always tipped as a headline horse for the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale and with her close relation Liberty Island winning the Group I Japanese Oaks on Sunday by six lengths she sold accordingly today for $2.3million.

Consigned by Eureka Stud on behalf of her Black Soil Bloodstock group of owners, the former Tony Gollan trained stable star was secured by Yulong as a breeding proposition.

“She’s obviously a fast mare but she was just a beautiful mare and with the recent pedigree update it helps things,” said Sam Fairgray, who indicated she may head overseas to start her stud career if she does not visit one of the Yulong sires here.

The likelihood is we’ll support our stallions.

“We may send some over to Frankel to get bred to Southern Hemisphere time, but that’s why we’re waiting until after the sale to see what we end up with and see what we’ll do.

“You never know, these mares could end up going there, but we’ll just wait and see what happens.”

Isotope is headed to Yulong for $2.3million.

A $170,000 Magic Millions yearling purchase, Isotope won over $1.2million on the track and was fourth in last year’s Group I BRC Stradbroke Handicap behind G1 winners Alligator Blood, Private eye and Rothfire.

She is from Great Dansaar, a winning half-sister to Australian Champion 2YO and 3YO Filly Yankee Rose, who went to stud in Japan where she has produced outstanding filly Liberty Island.
