Rich Enuff's Wiggum Dominates on Debut

Mark Smith - Monday May 22

The Rich Enuff debutant Wiggum made the trip from Morphettville to Ballarat on Monday worthwhile when he made easy work of an 11000m maiden.

Ridden by Dom Tourneur for Travis Doudle, Wiggum had the favourite Hartshorn in his sights at the 200m and went right on by to defeat the Russian Revolution gelding by two and three-quarter lengths. It was a further four and a quarter lengths back to the Divine Prophet gelding He's Godspeed in third.

"He is not very bright, but the ability is there," Doudle confided to Racing.com.

"He is still learning, and I thought the trip away would do him a world of good.

"Dom knows him well. We were galloping him up against some pretty average horses a while back, and he was getting beat, so we just kept at him, trying a lot of gear, and the penny just dropped one day and away he went and hasn't looked back.

"Dom likes the horse and does a lot of work with him, so we could not have had a better rider on today.

"(Super Vobis) was part of the reason for coming here, but the trip away will mature him and bring him along quicker.

"Everything we have done with him lately, he has stepped up. We will see how he pulls up and might give him a stronger test next time."    A $30,000 purchase for Travis Doudle Racing/Suman Hedge Bloodstock (FBAA) from the Milburn Creek draft at the 2022 Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale, Wiggum is the second foal and first starter for the hard-knocking, stakes-placed, Shaft mare Erin's Element.

A 5-time winner, Erin's Element placed in the Group III Bow Mistress stakes and Listed TTC Newmarket.

From the family of David Moodie’s magnificent producer Razor Blade, Erin's Element had a Zousain filly sell to Moorillah Pastoral when offered by Kambula Stud at the Adelaide Yearling Sale this year.

She revisited Zousain last spring.

Woodside Park Stud’s Rich Enuff is enjoying another strong season, and his two-year-old daughter Abounding finished a close-up second to the promising Zia in the Listed Bill Carter Stakes at Doomben on Saturday after Russian Alliance had inched her out previously in the Group III Ken Russell Classic at the Gold Coast.
