Can't Get Enough Of Frankel

Mark Smith - Saturday May 20

Juddmonte's champion Frankel (GB) has likely been the subject of more column inches in Australia in recent times than he has in Europe, and his three-year-old daughter  Let'sbefrankbaby kept his name up in lights with a fighting win in Saturday's Group III Ken And Helen Smith SA Classic at Morphettville.

Ridden by Jamie Mott for Robbie Griffiths & Mathew de Kock, Let'sbefrankbaby engaged in an epic length of the straight duel with the Caravaggio (IRE) filly Mayo Lass to emerge victorious by a head.

Making it a trifecta for Victorian visitors, the Sacred Falls filly Whakamana was one and a quarter length back in third.

Competitive in the fillies classic in Melbourne last spring, Let'sbefrankbaby advances her record to four wins, a second and two thirds from ten starts, with earnings of $225,800.

"We have been very patient with her and earmarked this race in November," Mathew de Kock said.

"It looked like we were headed at one stage, but this filly is very tough. Jamie Mott is three from three on this filly.

"I was tempted to come here for the Oaks but decided to give it a miss to save her energy for today, and it paid off. She is an out-and-out stayer.

"There is a chance (she goes to Brisbane), but we will just celebrate today first."

Owned by  Drakenstein Stud, Larry Nestadt & Gary Barber, Let'sbefrankbaby was a $400,000 buy for Griffiths de Kock / Peter Ford Thoroughbreds (FBAA) / Haywood Bloodstock from the Bhima Stud draft at the 2021 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Bred by Glentree Pastoral, the daughter of Frankel is the first foal of the stakes-winning Invincible Spirit mare Baby Pink (IRE).

A sister to stakes-winner Traisha, out of the Group III winning Galileo mare Dress Rehearsal, Baby Pink (IRE) was a 160,000gns purchase for Blandford Bloodstock at Tattersalls July 2018.

It proved a wise investment as Baby Pink (IRE) made $700,000 to the bid of Badgers Bloodstock/Glentree Thoroughbreds when carrying the Frankel filly at the 2019 National Broodmare Sale.

Baby Pink has a yearling filly and weanling filly by Snitzel and was covered by Toronado (IRE) last spring.
