Juvenile Trial Watch – Rosehill

Tara Madgwick - Friday May 19

There were trials at Rosehill on Friday morning with five heats for juveniles won by some interesting youngsters and a filly by Justify (USA) caught our eye with a second at her first trial, while two heat winners have siblings in the MM National Yearling Sale.

The Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou trained Frosted (USA) filly Arctic Glamour was having her first trial and did everything right. She won held together by half a length over eye-catching Justify filly Just in Time, who was slowly away and settled last before surging home up the fence to grab second.

A $185,000 Inglis Premier purchase, Arctic Glamour was the most expensive filly by Frosted sold in 2022 and is a half-sister to Group III winner Waging War.

A $220,000 Magic Millions purchase for Dynamic Syndications, Just in Time is bred on the same cross as Learning to Fly and is from stakes-placed Fastnet Rock mare Pickin’ Time.

Wyong trainer Kristen Buchanan would have been well pleased with her two juveniles Hell of a Show and Hunt the Hunter, who filled the quinella in the 1030m heat.

Hellbent colt Hell of a Show has had two trials for two wins and was an $80,000 Inglis Ready2Race purchase. Bred on the same cross as this season’s G2 winning filly Kristilli, he is the second foal of Magic I Am, a metro winning Magic Albert mare from the family of I Am Invincible.

Magic I Am has a Sooboog filly to be offered as Lot 1604 at the Magic Millions National Yearling Sale.

Richard and Will Freedman will be hoping to see a better race day performance this preparation from talented I Am Invincible colt Misty Legend, who won his heat in the quickest juvenile time of the morning.

Misty Legend showed great pace to be in contention turning for home in the Golden Gift last year before fading to finish last and was in the steward’s report after he was found to be lame behind. His only other start was a fifth on soft ground in a Warwick Farm maiden won by Extreme Spirit.

I’d love to see him on good ground from a good gate and we might find out what he can really do.

A $700,000 Magic Millions purchase for Legend Racing, Misty Legend has a half-sister by Blue Point (IRE) to be offered at the Magic Millions National Yearling Sale as Lot 1561

Additional winners were: Star Act (Snitzel) and Win All (Shooting to Win).
