Ones to Watch – Sunshine Coast

Tara Madgwick - Sunday May 14

The two year-old action is hotting up in Queensland with the carnival in full swing and two impressive maiden winners at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday might have more to offer and are by gun Queensland sires Spirit of Boom and Better Than Ready.

The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Spirit of Boom colt Hyde Park improved off a debut fourth to subsequent stakes-placed filly Dipsy Doodle at Rosehill last month to score by a length over 1400m as a short-priced favourite.

David Vandyke might have another up and coming star on his hands with Better Than Ready gelding Bohemian Lad bolting in on debut to win by three lengths over 1000m as a hot favourite.

A $140,000 Magic Millions purchase for his trainer from the Emirates Park draft, Bohemian Lad is the first winner for Nahab, a winning three-quarter sister-in-blood by Snitzel to Group I winner Sweet Idea and Group II winner Showtime.
