Coin Toss Comes Up Heads for Flying Artie - New SW

Breednet - Sunday May 7

When Blue Gum Farm was presented with the opportunity earlier this year to stand Flying Artie, the decision would not have been a coin toss.

The Champion 3YO Colt is a highly exciting young stallion and a massive boost to the roster of a famous Victorian farm which itself is under new ownership after being purchased by Trilogy Rural Investments last year.

On Saturday, Flying Artie added another stakes winner to his rapidly increasing tally when Singapore sprinter, Coin Toss, showed rivals his tail in the SGroup 2 Singapore 3YO Classic over 1400m at Kranji, recording a resounding victory.

A $175,000 buy for Bevan Smith Bloodstock and Kuldeep Singh Rajput from Two Bays Farm at the 2021 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale (after originally being sold for $15,000 as a weanling), Coin Toss has now had eight starts in Singapore for three wins and three placings.

From the multiple stakes placed Thorn Park mare, Headsup, Coin Toss is a half brother to Group 2 runnerup Shezathinka, while Widden Stud will offer a Yes Yes Yes half sister at the upcoming Magic Millions National Yearling Sale as  Lot 1550.

Coin Toss becomes the sixth stakes winner for Flying Artie whose multiple Group 1 winner Artorius put the world on notice in 2022 with placings in the Group 1 Royal Ascot Platinum Jubilee and Group 1 Newmarket July Cup.

Flying Artie is also the sire of Group 2 Caulfield Sprint winner, Asfoora, Flying Crazy, Fierce Flight and Giannis, with his oldest progeny just 4YOs.

Flying Artie

Standing at $16,500 in 2023, Flying Artie will be joined at Blue Gum Farm this year by Sebring flyer, Sejardan, a 3-time Group winner at 2 and 3.
