Slick 7YO a New Stakes-Winner for I Am Invincible

Tara Madgwick - Sunday May 7

Champion sire I Am Invincible is closing in on the milestone of 100 stakes-winners with seven year-old gelding Fifteen Rounds adding to the tally when landing his first Black Type victory in the $160,000 Listed Australian Turf Club Trophy (1200m) at the Sunshine Coast on Saturday.

Trained by Barry Lockwood, Fifteen Rounds has been racing in great heart over the last 12 months and won his last three starts through November and into January before having a break.

Second up from his spell, Fifteen Rounds produced a career best performance to beat quality Group winning mare Palaisipan by a head in a thrilling finish.

"He's in career best form, as I've said all prep it's the best he's had his feet. He got a great ride today and is probably unlucky not to be five from five,” said stable representative Brad Herne.

Fifteen Rounds was a $200,000 Inglis Easter yearling

A $200,000 Inglis Easter purchase for his original trainer Joe Pride from the Yarraman Park draft, Fifteen Rounds made $30,000 when offered through Inglis Digital in August 2020 and went to the stable of Darren Egan before moving to Barry Lockwood.

He has the overall record of nine wins and 11 placings from 38 starts with earnings just shy of $400,000.

Bred by Ron and Rod Dufficy, Fifteen Rounds is the best of four winners from stakes-winning import Sugar Bay (Can).

Fifteen Rounds is the 95th stakes-winner for I Am Invincible and is his 21st Aussie stakes-winner this season.
