Sir Prancealot Filly Caste Makes it Three on the Bounce in Queen Of The South Stakes

Mark Smith - Saturday May 6

Last start H C Nitschke Stakes winner Caste continued on an upward curve with an impressive performance in Saturday’s Group II Queen Of The South Stakes (1600m) at Morphetttville.

Ridden by Michael Dee for Ben and JD Hayes, the 3yo daughter of Sir Prancealot handed Foxy Frida (Foxwedge) a second runner-up finish by a long neck.

The only other 3yo filly in the race, Waltz On By, was four lengths back in third.

With her second stakes success, Caste advances her record to four wins and a second from six starts with earnings of $233,715.

“That was very impressive in a hard race, Ben Hayes said.

“We are going to have a lot of fun with her in the spring.

“There is not much of her, and I am leaning to tip her out – but never make raceday decisions.”

A $90,000 purchase for Lindsay Park Racing from the Cornerstone Stud draft at the 2021 Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale,  Caste is the best of five winners from seven to race for the winning Belong To Me (USA) mare Boat Quay.

Caste a $90,000 Magic Millions yearling

A half-sister to Group III winner and Silverstream (Al Maher) and stakes winners Speedy Natalie (Al Maher) and Calandra (Snitzel), Boat Quay is a daughter of the Listed AJC Gimcrack Stakes winner Speedy Bell (Brocco).

The 2yo filly Splash Landing, a sister to Caste, was a $30,000 purchase for Grand Syndicates/John Price Bloodstock from the Cornerstone draft at the 2022 Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale.

Boat Quay died in July last year. Her final foal is a yearling sister to Caste.
