Renaissance Woman On Track for Queensland Oaks

Mark Smith - Saturday May 6

Back with the tailenders on the home turn, the 3yo Reliable Man (GB) filly Renaissance Woman stormed home to claim Saturday’s  Aquis Stallions Gold Coast Bracelet (1800m) at the Sunshine Coast.

Ridden by Josh Parr for Bjorn Baker, Renaissance Woman returned to the winner’s circle for the first time since she captured the Group III Ethereal Stakes (2000m) at Caulfield last spring.

Renaissance Woman defeated the Churchill (IRE) filly Super Chilled by a short-neck, with the So You Think filly Street Gossip three-quarters of a length back in third.

“I’m really pleased with how that turned out. She’s such a talented filly, and when they’re taking you into the race like that, you can go wherever you damn well please,” Parr said.

“She came up underneath me really well, and we were in a good position. The pace was muddling, but I was still so confident with her.

“I can’t wait until she reaches her full potential because I don’t think we’ve seen it just yet. So, there are exciting things to come with her.

“It was masterful by Bjorn to give her an extended break before bringing her up here. It was the perfect training performance.”

Renaissance Woman a $250,000 Karaka yearling

A $250,000 Karaka Book 1 purchase for Attunga Stud from the Westbury Stud draft, Renaissance Woman was the most expensive yearling filly by Reliable Man (GB) sold in 2021.

Bred by Gerry Harvey, Renaissance Woman is the best of two winners from three to race for the winning Fastnet Rock mare Mrs Kennedy, who is a sister to stakes-placed Millard Reaction and three-quarters to Passive Aggressive, Missrock and Pearl Green, and a half-sister to Oakleigh Plate winner Mrs Onassis, Fifth Avenue, Aussies Love Sport and Miss Judgement.

After missing for two seasons, Mrs Kennedy foaled a brother to Renaissance Woman in November and was not served.
