Newhaven Park Announce 2023 Roster

Media Release - Thursday April 27

Newhaven Park are excited to announce their 2023 stallion roster after another successful season of racing for both our sires and Newhaven graduates.

As one of Australia’s leading nurseries, we are proud to stand two top-class stallions, both former champion racehorses. Dual Group 1 winner Xtravagant (Pentire x Axiom) has made a great start to his stallion career, with his first crop including Group 2 winner Lavish Girl and more recently the brilliant Inglis 2YO Millennium winner Xtravagant Star and Group 3 Adrian Knox
Stakes winner Arts.

After covering a record book of 141 mares last year, Xtravagant will stand at Newhaven for $22,000 (inc GST) in 2023.

Xtravagant

“Xtravagant is a hugely exciting stallion for us,” Newhaven’s John Kelly added.

“He’s shown himself capable of siring stakes winners in a variety of types and it was little surprise to see breeders so enthused to use him last year.

“That record book of mares was also high in quality, and he’s now on a trajectory to take his success to new levels in the coming years.”

Group 1-winning Champion 2YO Cool Aza Beel (Savabeel x Cool ‘n’ Sassy), unique in his achievements as a son of New Zealand’s Champion Sire Savabeel, saw his first crop of foals arrive in 2022.

An emphatic winner of the Karaka 2YO Million and Group 1 Sistema Stakes, Cool Aza Beel has been stamping his stock with depth and precocity, and his first foals made such a good impression on breeders that he covered an even larger book in his second year.

Now entering his third year at Newhaven, Cool Aza Beel will stand for $16,500 (inc GST) in 2023.

Cool Aza Beel

“When breeders return with a show of force in a stallion’s second year it’s always a great sign,” said Kelly. “The quality that he’s putting into his foals is there to see, and as a Champion 2-Year-Old, they look fast and early.

“Savabeel continues as a dominant force on both sides of the Tasman, and that can only encourage breeders who want to access his most precocious elite son at stud.”
