Russian Winning Juvenile Double

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday April 26

Newgate Farm’s Russian Revolution is setting the pace as the most successful sire of Australian 2YO winners this season with a juvenile double on Wednesday courtesy of talented colt The King and speedy filly Miss Joelene.

Sporting the colours of Trilogy Racing, The King showed the benefit of race experience dashing to an easy length and a half win at Kembla in the 1200m maiden.

The Peter and Paul Snowden trained colt was second and fifth at his first two runs, but was more focused to the task this time, jumping fast to lead and kicking on strongly for Chad Schofield.

Paul Snowden was well pleased with the win and indicated Queensland could be on the cards for The King if he performs well at his next assignment here in Sydney in a few weeks time.

A $320,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Sledmere Stud draft for Trilogy Racing/CB Bloodstock, The King was bred by China Horse Club and is the second winner from Why Be Discreet, a winning half-sister by Medaglia D’Oro (USA) to stakes-winners I’m Discreet, Very Discreet and Forever Discreet.

The King was a $320,000 Magic Millions purchase.

Trained by Kelly Schweida, Miss Joelene is a saleyard gift, snapped up by her trainer for just $20,000 from the Kenmore Lodge draft at the Magic Millions National Yearling Sale last year.

She scored by a length over 1100m at Toowoomba and has now won two of three starts earning over $40,000 in prizemoney.

Russian Revolution has sired 13 juvenile winners this season that include stakes-winners Red Resistance, Libertad and The Instructor.

The dual Group I winning son of Snitzel is also the leading second crop sire by winners, earnings and stakes-winners resulting in his increased service fee this spring, up to $88,000.
