Maiden Winner Has G1 Connections

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday April 25

Greg Perry has had outstanding Group I results as a breeder with two of his notable success stories being Artorius and Delectation with a filly closely related to both breaking her maiden for him at Gosford on ANZAC Day.

Trained by Chris Waller as was her half-brother Delectation, three year-old Fighting Sun filly Aurinko produced a strong finish for Jeff Penza to score a long neck win in the 1200m maiden at her fourth start.

Retained to race by Perry, Aurinko was foaled and raised at Vinery and is the fourth winner from four foals to race from Group I placed stakes-winning More Than Ready mare Grace and Power (USA), whose best offspring is Group I VRC Darley Sprint Classic winner Delectation, a winner of over $1.6million.

Aurinko is from a half-sister to the dam of Royal Ascot contender Artorius.

Another unraced Redoute’s Choice daughter of Grace and Power is Gracie’s Lass, the dam of dual Group I winner and $2million earner Artorius, who is set for another tilt at Royal Ascot.

Grace and Power didn’t have a foal in the two seasons after producing Aurinko, but safely delivered a colt by Written Tycoon last spring.

Another unraced daughter of Grace and Power is La Sevena, who is entered in the Vinery draft for the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale as Lot 970 and is in foal to Street Boss (USA).
