“The Deep Impact sireline has been triumphant in Australian and New Zealand Group One two and three-year-old racing recently”, commented Windsor Park owner Rodney Schick.

“The interest in Profondo from breeders everywhere has been exceptional and he was quickly oversubscribed”.

Four-year-old entire Profondo will stand for $17,500 +gst in his first season and joins the stallion roster at Windsor Park alongside champion racehorse and leading New Zealand-based Australasian second-crop sire of stakes winners Turn Me Loose (Iffraaj) who will stand for $18,000 +gst in 2023.

Turn Me Loose
The progeny of Turn Me Loose sold for $500,000, $250,000 and $250,000 at the 2022 Ready To Run Sale at Karaka and among the numerous smart performers representing him this season are Australian Gr.2 winning and Gr.1 performed 3YO filly (She’s) Licketysplit, Hong Kong-bound 2023 Gr.2 Waikato Guineas winner Loosespender, recent Australian debut-winning 2YO Our Turn Now and up-and-coming 4YO racemare It’s Business Time.

Champion European Miler Circus Maximus (Galileo) shuttles from Coolmore, Ireland for his third season at Windsor Park.

The triple Gr.1 winning son of Galileo was the most popular stallion in 2021 serving 161 mares and his sizeable first crop of foals continue to impress with their development and conformation. Circus Maximus has had his service fee set at $17,500 +gst.

Encosta De Lago’s Gr.1 winning son Vanbrugh has enjoyed a breakthrough season with his first crops to race which include this season’s Gr.1 winning 4YO mare Mustang Valley and leading 3YO and Gr.1 performer Wild Night. On the back of these excellent racetrack and sales results Vanbrugh’s fee will be set at $10,000 +gst.

Completing Windsor Park’s stallion roster for 2023 is successful sire ShamExpress (O’Reilly). The Gr.1 Newmarket winning sprinter is a consistent sire of black-type performers including multiple Gr.1 winner Coventina Bay.

The progeny of ShamExpress remain popular in the salering selling to $280,000 at the 2022 Ready To Run Sale at Karaka and his service fee will be $8,000 +gst.

In closing, two important events occurred recently that herald an exciting future ahead for New Zealand’s Racing and Breeding Industries.

New Zealand-bred horses enjoyed unparalleled success at The Championships in Sydney, winning eight of the ten Group One races on offer, providing further confirmation of their outstanding quality at the highest level of competition.

We also applaud the recent proposed partnership announcement from the TAB which should help to provide a more secure future for all industry participants.
