Brilliant Return for High Priced Encryption Colt

Tara Madgwick - Thursday April 20

Stakes-placed in his first preparation over the summer, talented Encryption colt Cifrado made a sizzling return to the races at Ipswich on Wednesday bolting in to win by nearly five lengths.

Trained by Rex Lipp at Toowoomba, Cifrado settled back in the field and stormed past the leaders like they were tied to the fence.

Second to Godfather in the Listed BRC Phelan Ready Stakes, Cifrado will again be given the chance to measure up to Black Type company in coming weeks with a long range plan to tackle the $1million Group II BRC Sires Produce Stakes and possibly the Group I JJ Atkins.

The most expensive yearling from the first crop of Lonhro’s brilliant Group II winning son Encryption, Cifrado was bought for $320,000 by Cliff Little at the Magic Millions January Sale from the Eureka Stud draft.

A $320,000 MM purchase, Cifrado is the most expensive yearling by Encryption.

He is a half-brother to stakes-winner Miami Fleiss and stakes-placed Cochrane from Madame Fly, a half-sister to Group III winner Chapter and Verse.

Madame Fly passed away in 2021 and her last foal, a filly by Spirit of Boom, sold for $475,000 at Magic Millions this year to Yes Bloodstock.

Cifrado is the second winner for Eureka Stud’s Encryption, who has covered over 500 mares in his first four seasons.
